Alfrick: St Mary Magdalene: The Church will be open as usual and will be locked up later than the usual 4.00 pm in case of later arrivals.

This weekend is the Alfrick Show so all our usual cake bakers are very busy for that and next weekend is the grand opening of the village shop, so we regret we shall not be able to offer refreshments next week at the Church. grave is just to the left of the door.

Visitors will be able to explore the history of this Grade 2 Listed building, designed by local architect John Cotton.  The foundation stone was laid in August 1872.  The tower was added during the 1880s.  There is plenty of wood and metal work produced by members of Bromsgrove’s  Guild of artists and some attractive windows designed by well-known local glass designers. Written descriptions are provided for most items.

Photographs of the clergy who have served the church will be on display.

In 2015 the First World War Memorial was restored.  Information about the people named on the memorial will be available.

The Spadesbourne stream runs through the churchyard. There will be an opportunity to use magnifying lenses and a microscope to examine examples of some of the wildlife found in and around the stream.  The small creatures from the stream have been monitored and recorded for a couple of years and the information passed to the Environment Agency.

A quiz and colouring sheets will be available for children.
