Cradley Heritage Open Day - Family History, Bells and Music!

The doors of St Peter's Church in Cradley will be wide open on Saturday 14th September from 10.00am onwards.

 From 10.00am until 2.00pm the church will be open for visitors, including those taking part in the annual Ride and Stride. (Riders and Striders can still check in at the church until 5.00pm).

 See inside the our church which was originally built in 1791 as a Non-Conformist Chapel, before the minister converted to the Church of England in 1798. The sanctuary which was added on in 1933 features three stained glass windows by local stained glass artist William Pardoe of the Stourbridge Stained Glassworks of nearby Lye.

 Local History Group - Cradley Then and Now will be helping visitors with their family tree and Parish Registers will be available to view. A selection of Local History books will be available to purchase.

 Find out about our Heritage Clock Project to restore and install the clock dial saved from the now demolished Church of St Luke in Cradley Heath. The project will also see the tower floodlit and a replica weathervane installed. Find out how to get involved and contribute to our memories book.

 Bell Tower will be open offering free tours to see the bells and all visitors will be given the chance to ring a bell. Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult.

 Refreshments will be available including homemade cakes.

 At 2.30pm there will be a free concert with Organist Richard Jeffcoat at the console of the recently restored Compton Pipe Organ. A live video feed of Richard at the console will be projected onto a big screen.

The church is easily accessible via an accessible ramp. The tower is accessed by a spiral staircase and reasonable fitness is required for the climb up to the ringing room.  Toilet available in church.  Disabled parking in the churchyard.  On street parking available in Blue Ball Lane, Colley Lane and small car park in Slade Road.
