A Helping Hand for Historic Churches across Worcestershire & Dudley
Welcome to the website of the Worcestershire and Dudley Historic Churches Trust. We aim to award grants to churches across the Diocese of Worcester and the county of Worcestershire to help with preservation, repair, maintenance, improvement or upkeep. If your church is in need of support, please get in touch via our ‘Contact Us’ page.
We can offer grants for restoration projects large or small, and not restricted to ancient churches – twentieth century buildings are historic too! Examples of projects we help with include roof and wall repairs, rewiring, archaeological investigations, and the conservation of stained glass. Each application is considered on an individual basis, and we can award grants of up to £1000.
The Trust also promotes the education of the public in the history and architecture of churches. You can see examples of historic churches in our photo gallery, and find out more about churches across Worcestershire & Dudley in our Churches A-Z.

This year’s WDHCT Church Tour will explore the Hidden Churches of East Worcestershire. Join us on 8th October 2025 for a guided tour by coach of churches including Upton Snodsbury, Throckmorton, Pinvin, Besford and Peopleton. The tour costs £27 per person, and further information is available from Claire Strachan.

On a very rainy Wednesday in October, we embarked on the second WDHCT church tour, and despite the wet weather, the day was absolutely wonderful, with everyone in high spirits. (more…)
